"Senior
Recital Approaching"
February 27, 2007
Just
a reminder that my Senior Recital is this Monday, March 5th at
7:30 PM. You can see the website at www.mastersrecital.com. My
text slide chapel announcment for tomorrow (wednesday) is as follows,
"The Senior Voice Recital of Joshua Wheeler will be on Monday,
March
5th at
7:30pm
in the Music Recital Hall. Come and enjoy a great Monday night
of wonderful song and music written by old dead guys in languages
you don't understand."
I'll
have to post a couple posters up too... but that'll have to wait
till tomorrow, can't have those being seen before they're actually
released on campus. It's risky enough posting that chapel announcement
early...
"Theology
I Complete"

Well,
I completed my Theology I DS this weekend. Here's a picture of
the beautiful stack of pages to celebrate. (Note the professional
plastic binding.)

Chorale
got back from Arizona at about 6:00pm today. We had an incredibly
time together over thsi weekend. The two seven hour bus rides were
an absolute blast. Our concerts went very well and we had a wonderful
time of ministry at Apollo Baptist and Palmcroft Baptist in Glendale.
We can pray that the music we sang and the cds we left will continue
to encourage and convict until we are back again.
This
year's chorale is a great group. We are a group of 'different'
people. Which basically means that there's no boring norm that
people are attempting to follow. I absolutely love unique people
and diverse personalities. The bus ride back was great; I must've
sat next to at least fifteen different people throughout the duration.
That's fun! The bus was new too and had great flat panel TVs so
we made use of those by watching Cars on the way to AZ
and Hoodwinked and Barney's
New Car from Andy Griffeth on the way back. Oh yes, and we
ate at a Cracker Barrel on the way there!
"Some
more Photos"
February 4th, 2007
Just
wanted to put up some more photos. These were taken over winter
break. I'm looking forward to having some more time to take photos
in a few weeks.
I've
got a couple more assigments and then my DS Theology course will
be finished. Right now for the extra 250 pages reading from our
choice of source I'm reading "A Body of Divinity" at my dad's suggestion.
It's a wonderful book
by
Thomas
Watson - a
puritan, and
an author of whom fairly little is know in regards to his background.
His
practical approach to thelogy is demonstrated in the manner in
which he presents each point. He gives the theological concept
and then has sections called "uses" at the end. These are dedicated
to demonstrating how we apply this theology in our life. This format
neatly coincides with his statements at the beginning as to the
purpose "To be settled in the doctrine of faith" of which his subpoints
include so we may grow and resists "seducers" or false teachers.
It's
late, otherwise I would list some good quotes. Well, here's one
in speaking of how it isn't cheerfullness during good times but
rather in the bad that are the actions of Christians which stand
out, "It brings glory to God, when the world sees a Christian that
has within him that can make him cheerful in the worst times; that
can enable him, with the nightingale, to sing with a thorn at his
breast."

Mandee's
senior recital was tonight. She played all of her pieces very well;
my personal favorite of the evening was the Rachmoninof two piano
which she played with Morgan
(my accompanist). They were tight together musically. There was
never that awkward feeling that they weren't quite together as
there often is during piano duets. The writing of the piece lent
itself to that of course as one was normally accompanying the other's
solo lines; but they had clearly practiced it to the point that
they were comfortable enough to enjoy performing it. It showed.
Before
going to bed I thought it might be nice to post some pictures I
took over Christmas break. I'm still planning that big photo upload
to the gallery - there's a lot in store there! but I've got other
priorities right now. That will have to wait till I have some time
to relax. Oh yes, and Happy groundhog day! Good ol' Phil didn't
see his shadow I hear - you can read his forecast here. www.punxsutawneyphil.com
Here's
a few photos.
